THE NEXT OFFERING OF THIS GROUP IS ON HOLD DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING COVID-19
PLAYING AND REALITY is a series of 90-minute movement “laboratories” where you can move, dance, think and create in the company of other creatively inclined health care professionals. Facilitated with an artistic sensibility, balanced with structure and spontaneity, fueled by great beats, and held within a safe container. We use guided explorations where movement is the gateway towards self-awareness. We let the body move the way it wishes to move.
LABS COMBINE elements of moving independently, partner work, moving in community. We may layer additional artistic modalities such as visual art, sound, writing and drawing to deepen our experience. Each lab we come together to talk about our movement experiences, and how we bring awarenesses from the dance floor into daily life, our clinical practices and our relationships with our clients.
THIS DANCE practice enlivens the body and builds emotional muscle - imagination, courage, reflection, problem solving, patience - the day to day skills we use in our clinical practices. As we build these muscles we become sturdier and more resilient - good for us and good for patient outcomes.
THERE ARE NO STEPS, there is no way to get it wrong. It is a "come as you are" experience focused on process. We are not creating choreography or attempting to be aesthetically pleasing by external standards.
EXPLORATIONS are drawn from modern dance, conscious dance, and movement-based expressive art practices.
